Sew a Skirt With Pockets

In this 3-class series, we will sew a gathered skirt with pockets, a flat-front waistband and elastic in the back using the Cleo Skirt sewing pattern (a size-inclusive pattern, up to 70" hip) designed by Rae. Cleo is a fun, satisfying project, and you’ll love wearing your comfy skirt from summer into fall. Note: this class will focus on construction rather than fitting, though there may be some time for fitting tips as we go. 

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner to Confident (ages 16+)

This is a great project if you have taken our How to Sew class and How to use a Pattern class and would like a beginner garment class, or if you've already sewn a few garments. For this class you must be able to read a pattern, understand grain and seam allowance, sew a straight seam, and backtack.

DATES/TIMES: 

Wednesdays from 11 AM - 1 PM, August 5, 19, and September 2

(3 sessions, 6 hours of total instructional time)

WHAT TO BRING:

Woven light to medium weight cotton or linen fabric such as lawn, double gauze, yarn-dyed cottons, chambray, poplin, shirting, baby wale corduroy, sateen, silk, quilting cotton, linen, or cotton-linen blends. Prewash and press your fabric before class begins.

In the shop, we have Fableism or Merchant and Mills that would be great for this skirt!

Notions: Thread in matching color

Basic sewing kit: scissors, snips, seam ripper, pins, rulers, chalk (we also have these tools available to borrow in the studio)

CANCELLATION POLICY: 

If you need to cancel, please contact the studio as soon as possible. Cancellations more than 3 days before the class starts will receive credit towards a future class. Cancellations less than 3 days are non-refundable. Each class must have at least three participants in order to run. Marengo Studio reserves the right to cancel this class if we do not have enough participants (you will be notified of a cancellation at least 48 hours ahead of the class start and may choose a full refund or credit towards a future class).
