Fit Lab: Elastic Waist Pants

In this 2-week class, we’ll explore the art of a comfortable, personal fit using the the Sepia Pants sewing pattern by Closet Core as our foundation. You’ll learn how to read your body’s unique geometry, diagnose common fit issues, and build a toolkit of fitting skills you can apply to any future pants pattern. You’ll leave with a tailored muslin, an adjusted paper pattern ready for future sewing, and the confidence to make patterns work for you!

Tuition includes: Two core class sessions plus one drop-in session for personalized advice on muslin construction.

Note: This course is fit-focused; it doesn’t include final garment assembly.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate (ages 16+)

This is a great project if you’ve sewn a few garments and want to take your fitting skills to the next level.  For this class, you should feel comfortable sewing up a muslin on your own.

DATES/TIMES:

• Sun, Sept 27, 2-5PM
• Thurs, Oct 1, 4-6PM (drop-in hours)
• Sun, Oct 4, 2-5PM

(8 hours of total instructional time)

SKILLS YOU WILL LEARN: Pants fitting and adjustments

WHAT TO BRING:

2-3 yards of fabric to create test fit muslins (consider muslin fabric, bedsheets, or other thrifted fabric)

For a general sense of fabric requirements, review the size chart and yardage on the pattern website (look for "Sizing" tab then "View our size charts")

Notions: Thread

Basic sewing kit: scissors, snips, seam ripper, pins, rulers, chalk (we also have these tools available to borrow in the studio)

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

Studio sewing machines are provided. You may bring your own machine if you prefer.

Sepia Pants Sewing Pattern (Printed A0 copy and digital copy - the studio will purchase and print your pattern for you so that each person has a copy)

CANCELLATION POLICY:

If you need to cancel, please contact the studio as soon as possible. Cancellations more than 3 days before the class starts will receive credit towards a future class. Cancellations less than 3 days are non-refundable. Each class must have at least three participants in order to run. Marengo Studio reserves the right to cancel this class if we do not have enough participants (you will be notified of a cancellation at least 48 hours ahead of the class start and may choose a full refund or credit towards a future class).
