Class Information
Do you want to sew your own clothing but don't know where to start? This class is our "Garment Sewing 101." We will cover everything from the different types of sewing patterns to choosing a size, reading pattern markings, and how to cut out the pieces so you are ready to sew.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
how to read a sewing pattern
how to use PDF sewing patterns
how to choose your size
how to trace your pattern
how to cut out a sewing pattern
Note that this class will focus on indie sewing patterns since we carry those here at the shop and not standard tissue patterns (eg Big 4: Simplicity, McCalls, Butterick, and Vogue); however, much of the information is applicable to standard tissue patterns.
For this class, we recommend that you already know how to use a sewing machine and understand seam allowance (see our "How to Sew" class for a full list of recommended skills).
